Ok, i admit I might be a little bit addicted to texting. My parents are constantly telling me to turn off the phone. I mean yeah I text a lot. Who doesn't? But I don't think I have a serious addiction. Like in the article they were saying it could lead to lack of sleep. I get that. Late night texting. I do it quite a bit actually. I fell sorry for the kid with the overprotective parents that turn the kids phone off at like nine. They also said it could make you eat less. Now that I don't get. I don't text so much that I don't eat. that's ridiculous. But they didn't mention not paying attention in school or car crashes. I think those are the two main problems with texting, I think. I would never text while driving, I'm not an idiot. Now, the whole texting in school thing... of course I do ti I don't know a single person that doesn't.

Round Rock Dolphins Practice Swim Meet, happened today, whole thing
Yup today was my first swim meet. Like, ever. I felt so out of place. With all these girls with their stay-at-home moms, and there auction luncheons and whatnot. not to mention they had been in swim for years, so they were kicking butt and taking names. This is my first year. And, frankly 2 weeks ago I had no clue how to do any of the strokes. So I wasn't exactly the most ready person in the world, if you know what I mean. I was nervous at first but assured myself I would do great. Yeah, that didn't work. I still came in last on everything. My time for freestyle was 44 seconds. For 50 yards. That might sound good to a non-swimmer but that's bad. And I can't really blame it on being a beginner because I know a beginner, just like me who got 17 seconds on a 25 meter freestyle. She beat me by an average of 5 seconds. in the swim world that is a lot. So I suck for now, and I'm not happy with my scores at all. Oh and the worst part was, I thought I would be a great breast-stroker. They said I was a natural. I came in last. It took me 53 freaking seconds. The girl before me got it in 33 seconds. I really don't feel good about myself right now, let's leave it a t that.

read, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1265284/Yetis-unicorns-flying-kittens-Inside-worlds-zaniest-zoo.html
I didn't know what to do my readers response on so I decided to find an interesting article on the web. I didn't have the slightest clue where to start so I typed "flying kittens" into the google search bar. What came was something with "yetis unicorns and flying kittens"in the name. I thought to myself, what could go wrong. I now realize many things went wrong. What I thought would be a cute "zany" article turned out to be a horrible nightmare. Filled with creepy taxidermy(the art of stuffing animals (how dare they call it art) ). There was a bizarre zoo (the creation of an eccentric scientist) and it was an auction house of some sort, in some warehouse and only crazy British people who use the term "blimey" go there. Strange. So yeah, they had a ton of creepy exotic animals but they also had a ton of other weird stuff. Like a boy with an elephant head. A monkey/bat/duck. And a grotesque kitten with wings. Somehow I thought flying kittens would be a lot cuter.

The Encyclopedia of awesome animals, whole book
I guess now is when you can tell that I have no time to read. I got this in the first grade and have read it a million times. Now I could tell you all about the basic anatomy of a shark or a tiger but I think I will spare you. And plus its actually a pretty long book. I remember in second grade someone tried to read all of the encyclopedias. We didn't get along to great. And why? Because he was a recluse. Anyone who has time to read an encyclopedia is either
a) a weirdo with no life
b) someone who wants to annoy me or
c) all of the above

Teen Angst? Nahhh..., first 20 pages
This isn't a book I would normally read. Just saying. I don't have angst issues. It was Language Arts and I had nothing to read. I wander to the book shelf hoping to pick out the perfect book for me. But the shelf was rather crowded and I had to lean over a classmate that will remain unnamed. He/She is a claustrophobic one and they told to move it because I was invading their space. So I was forced to pick a random book. That I didn't like very much. I think it was meant to be funny but it didn't work out to well. And the author put a tone of pointless footnotes that were really annoying. So this book is not a recommended one.

Graceling, read whole book
*Spoiler (kinda)
This book was amazingly good. And I know Rachel, Annie, Grace, and Paula all think the same. But for some stupid reason Arvind thought the book was boring and cliched. How the heck did he come up with that response? It's a thrilling adventure, an active drama, a heart-racing romance, it made me laugh, it made me angry and/or frustrated and it made me cry my freakin' eyes out. How is that boring? And cliche? Are you kidding me? Graceling is one of the most original books I've read in a while. Sure it has a prince and a royal chick fall in love
but its not the cliched kind of romance. At all. This is definately on my top 10. Maybe. The book was good but I hated the ending. It left me feeling empty... not cliffhanger empty but.... empty still.

I read the whole article but I am mainly going to focus on the first portion about M&M's. This also has to do with the 1940's era so I thought that it was appropriate. In 1941, Forrest Mars(candy-lovers might be familiar with the name Mars which is a big chocolate company) and Bruce Murrie(son of president of Hershey's) made a deal to create an appetizing, multi-colored, hard-shelled candy with a chocolate center. The reason Mars made a deal with Murrie is because he thought he might have a chocolate shortage after the war (which was true). So, Mars and Murrie's or M&M's were born. Best.Candy.Ever.

Night, chapter 6&7; read for 40 minutes
This is awful. Horrible. In the convoy car, on their way to the next concentration camp they go slow through some German cities. Cruel bystanders throw in bread crusts and watch . They observe these men like their animals. Anyway, one old man manages to get some bread for him and his son. But his son doesn't know some is for him so he kills his father to get the crust. In the midst of his death the father is saying things like "No, my little Meir I got some for you too..." It was awful. It makes me feel like an ungrateful spoiled brat because, I didn't even eat my crusts.

Night, Chapters 8&9; Read for 35 minutes
This is where the book starts to get really sad. It's hard to even imagine the thoughts that are going through Elie's head. He's thinking " I wish I could just die now." But then he sees his father. His weak, sick old father. The only reason he doesn't just die now is because of his dad. He doesn't want to leave him in hid time of need. And the thoughts his dad must be thinking. There not even thoughts really. Just "Need to sleep. Just let me lay down for one minute, please, Elie have pity on me" He wants to lay down and go to sleep in the snow because he hasn't eaten or slept in two days. But, the thing is, if you go to sleep in the snow, well, it's more than likely that you won't wake up. Ever. But Elie's father is so sick and exhausted he doesn't even notice that he's dying. It's horrible and awful. I can't even imagine it.

I like this article, because I like makeup. It gives you a lot of different facts and opinions. Plus there are a lot of tips which really come in handy. It tells you that if you need to stick to a budget then to just get charcoal or gray eyeshadow. Men like smoky eye makeup. It says if you wanna go all out find the eyeshadow that is right for your skin tone, but you don't have to stick strictly to that color. Go crazy, live a little. Mix and match for I style that rocks.

This was actually a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. It gave reasons why to get your teeth whitened and how it was done. I really liked it because it had a good balance of fact and opinion. An examlpe of facts are that:
Teeth whitening gets cheaper every day
There are no negative side affects
And it makes your smile beautiful
Ha! Gotcha! That third one is an OPINION not a FACT silly goose!

Night, chapter 4. Time--- 30 minutes
I love this book. I love it. I love the irony, and the unbelieveability. I love the feeling, when I'm reading it and I think " I just remembered, this isn't a story. This is real." I like how everyone is optimistic but, Elie, the boy, I boy beyond his years but a boy still, knows what's going on. How he has lost all hope and all faith. How all of these people are still loyal to God, but he questions. Why should I put my faith in Him when he sits and watches us burn. Oh my gosh. It hit me. I've been sitting here, trying to think of a reason the Holocaust happened. Maybe it was a test? Maybe not. Gods reasoning is beyond humanity.

I really wasn't to fond of this book. It's my first read and it's boring. Not a good sign. It isn't a memorable book. It won't stick in my brain, that's for sure. And plus it's totally cliche. A predictable plot with no twists. It's a dead-end book basically. Like Love, Stargirl. This book sucked a little bit. I might read it agaon and look at it from a different perspective but for now it still stinks.

Title: The absolutely True Diary of a part-time indian, whole book read
This book was good. Actually it was really good. It was a memorable book. This was a re-read and now I see why it won so many awards. It's an intriguing story about a misunderstood teen, with a lot of problems most teens don't have. A community that thinks you're a traitor, alcoholic drug-addict parents and going to a school where EVERYONE literally hates you. Because you are a Native American going to an all white school ten miles from the reservation. Plus he has a stutter and a lisp. I feel bad for him but I guess all his problems made him a great... comedian? Apparently because he is really funny. A good, sad funny book. I like it like I like a JB song. It's fond to me.

I still really love this book. It's really depressing but that's okay because the sadness teaches me that I'm really spoiled. I eat 3 meals a day plus snacks. They get a slice of bread every day. I can't even imagine that. Molly is in my group and we were talking and she said they should make a summer camp thing that was like " a day in the life of a person in a concentration camp." I mean you wouldn't have a risk of dying or anything but you would get slight rations and be worked to the bone all day. I doubt any of the kids in America could even come close to handling it. We think we are in bad times. We don't even know what bad times are. The world today...

Mine for Keeps Jean Little, Read Whole Book
This book was good. It was kinda sad. Its about a girl with scoliosis or something and she gets a dog to become her companion. I'm more of a cat person, so dog books aren't really my thing but this was probably one of the best dog books I've read. Probably because the book didn't revolve around the dog. It was around the girl, but the dog was a big part of her life. After living in a school for the disabled as long as she can remember it's hard for her to fit in, especially when she's known as 'the girl with the disease'.

I hated this book so much the first time I read it. I mean, the first Stargirl was really good. Not my favorite book in the world, but well-written. The sequel absolutely sucked. But I read it on the summer to 6th grade so it's been a while. I decided to give it another shot, now that I've learned a lot more about looking for deeper meaning. When I read it this time around I found some meaning but I still really don't like it. And it's not because I know what's going to happen so I'm bored. I didn't even remember what this book was about. I don't think I even finished it because it was that bad. Its a weird story that is really boring. Maybe it gets better but the beginning is so slow and boring that I never really made it to the middle. A lot of people might think not to judge a book until you've read the whole thing but my motto is "don't judge a book by it's cover- judge it by the first chapter"
In conclusion, I still hate this book. Yes it has some meaning. But the story is a little cliche and highly boring.

I love this book. I know I kinda say that about every book I read but this one I really love. I know the story kind of, because it's about the Holocaust but the writing is just... superb. Elie Weisil was born to write. He seems so smart. His writing is more like art than writing. He mentions losing his faith in God when he suffers through the hellish nightmare of the Holocaust, which is extremely sad to me, because I am ultimately a religious person. Anyways about him losing his faith in God, he thinks, why me? Why was it him? It was him because he could survive through it and create beautiful pieces of artwork that will never let us forget what happened to the Jews. This writing just moves me and takes me to dark places in my mind that I never want to go to. It makes me think. Oh dear God, how would I survive if it was me? At one point he says "Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence that deprived me for all eternity of the desire to live" How awful is that? I cried the first time I read that. These people were deprived of the desire to live!?

This book is pretty good. It's not really my style of writing but it's a good story. True love. Jessica has a kidney failure and she has to go on a machine to keep her alive-but it's not working. Her lover, Jeremy, is a perfect genetic match to be a kidney doner- after all you only need one kidney to live. He has finally convinced Jessica to let him give it to her. The only problem is his uptight parents. They've already lost 1 child to a car accident. Their afraid for Jeremy too. But Jeremy argues "you only need 1 to live!" and hi9s dad asks him "why'd God give us 2 then?" and Jeremy's answer, I'm not sure why, is like a wowzer to me. He says "maybe because He wanted us to share." I hope that his parents let him. Jessica deserves a kidney. I'm not sure what will happen now. All I can say is that I really hope, writing-wise, that this book gets better. I mean it's kinda poorly written. Then again, every man has his own tastes.

This book was amazing. I am so very sad that it's over. But it had a good ending so I'm happy :) It really kept me on my toes, you know? I didn't know what would happen next. I hate it when your reading a book and it's so predictable. I mean, how boring right? This book was making my heart pound and my blood race. I finished it in one day and 2 sittings. I didn't do my homework. That's how crazy good it was. And it wasn't the classic girl-meets-boy plot. The plot had a lot of twists and I liked that. It was more of a girl-loves-boy-but-girls-best-friend-goes-out-with-him-and-girl-and-boy-have-meetings-behind-friends-back kind of plot. Which causes their friendship. But the main girl, Sarah, her friend was a jerk who didn't treat her right. And the guy was so nice. They belonged together. So you know what Sarah's friend? You'll be a loser forever. I really didn't like her. But over all the book was good. It was a different style of writing but I liked it.,

This paper was interesting enough, but, to me it wasn't totally intriguing. It didn't have me hooked at all. It wasn't an interesting science piece that keeps you on your toes. It had long terms that were difficult to understand and it seemed to drone on and on. The only reason that I didn't' quit on this paper was that in hopes that it would get better ( which it never really did) and because it was about extra terrestrial life, in my opinion, the most interesting out of all scientific topics. The academic point of this paper, however, was very informative. I learned a lot, although technically it was just a theory. Basically scientists are saying that life may have started way out in the universe and that by meteor or comet, life was kind of "delivered to us." I don't necessarily agree with this because I strongly disagree with evolution(which is what their theory is implying), although I do keep an open mind about. Like Aristotle once said "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." I can entertain theory's and concepts such as life being delivered to us without really accepting them.
Anyhow, back to the informativeness, scientists at NASA say that if this theory is true life could be in galaxies we could never dream of reaching, way out in the recesses of space.
There was a lot more that was in the article, but it was a bit harder to digest and writing a description of the rest would be extremely difficult. I must first comprehend and digest it, and then I might be able to write about it. But for now the real universe and the universe of my mind shall be left unexplored.

Now Sal continues telling the tale about Phoebe. Out of the blue Phoebe invites Sal over for dinner, and she has been feeling so lonely she can't help but say yes. While there Phoebe tells Sal the story of Margaret Cadaver, her father's lady friend. First of all, supposedly, her last name means dead body. Secondly, she is a Mrs. which means their used to be a Mr. Phoebe's wild theory is that she chopped up her husband and buried him in the walls of her house. Phoebe has quite the imagination. I'm not sure I'd really favor having a friend like her, making up nonsense, her head always up in the clouds. I suppose she'd be better than having no friends.
Anyways, I think I am beginning to recall why Sal's mother left. She felt like she wasn't good enough. I believe that's so, but I'm not certain. I guess I'll find out if I continue on!

This book is sad. Well, I think it is- it's been so long since I've read it I hardly remember. This story is peculiar. The author has quite a strange style of writing, which makes it splendid.I like it so far, and plan on re-reading the whole thing because it's so interesting. It is about a girl who had lived on a farm for her entire 13 years when her mother left and her father(papa) and she moved to a suburban part of Ohio. He has a lady friend there and young Sal is not pleased. Her heart is still silently, desperately begging for her mother(momma) to come home. And that is why her Gram and Gramps and she set off to Idaho(by car) to visit her mother on her birthday. Sal believes in her heart that if she visits her mother in time for her birthday she will come home and her life will fall back into place. In the car, however, Sal spins a tale about a girl she met while living in Ohio for a few months. Sal names the story " The Tale of Phoebe, the disappearing mother, and the lunatic" I am quite eager to read it. In fact, I'll get back to it now!

This book is about a girl named Wonder. I know weird right. She had a sister named Lucky( a pop star) but Lucky died. I'm not sure how. I think it was an accident of some sort. Anyways, while working at DQ and singing along to the radio Wonder (she prefers the name Anna) is discovered by a talent scout. He immediately wants her to make a demo. She doesn't really want the superstar life so she starts retreating from the idea when her mom walks in. her mom knows how talented she really is, and immediately volunteers her to make a demo. Anna doesn't want to, but for once since her sister died, her mother looked happy. So she said yes to the deal out of guilt.
I love the lead of this book:
My life as a pop princess began at Dairy Queen.
I thought this was a really good lead.It made me want to keep reading and see what she meant by that.

Heyy:)
Hey for any friends that are following me just a friendly hi. I haven't been able to do a free post in a long time because I have been a busy busy bee. Anyways I'd like to say a few things about the stupid pop culture of our world today.
First of all for the Grammy's, who the HECK is Esperanza Spalding. I do not know who she is, all I know is that Florence and the Machine should have gotten the award.
Secondly, the most recent glee, out of all the artist's in the world that they could have honored they chose Justin Beiber? Really. Personally I don't like him. And frankly his music isn't that great either. Nobody's music is really that good. Because none of them can actually sing! And every song I hear, or almost every song, on KISS FM sounds exactly the same. A stupid rap and some major vocal editing. Now I will admit some artists are really talented, and while that is kind of an opinion, if someone doesn't need vocal editing and they write their own songs, thats pretty talented. Most of the undiscovered artists are the most talented.

This book is about a girl going into high-school, and she used to be popular but is now a total outcast. And why? Because she crashed a party by calling the cops. Now her best friend or former best friend hates her and frankly, she kind of hates herself too. So, it's her first day of high school and she's totally clan less. She compares herself to a wounded zebra. So she seeks out other wounded zebras. A friendly girl that I would think to be, in real life, extremely annoying. I would hate her so much. I just don't like her. I think the girl just put's up with her because she doesn't want to look like a totally friendless loser. She wants desperately to go back with her old friend Rachel, who has now become Rachelle, and is part of the exchange student clique. She uses candy cigarettes and puts mascara "goose poop" across her cheekbones. And she pretends to know french. In the book this girl is all popular and stuff but she sounds like a total loser.
This book kind of reminds me of the hardships of being a new kid, except a little bit different. Not that I would know, I have lived in the exact same place my whole life. I would hate to move. Some of my friends have moved like 9 times and they think it's fun. It would be such a pain starting over again and again.

I think college essays are stupid. I mean I get the fact that there are a ton of students with high SAT scores and like 4.8 GPA's so they all look the same to the deans on board's of administration. But the best way to solve this problem is not with an essay. Because honestly I don't think writing is that important. And a lot of careers really don't involve writing at all. A lot of kids aren't experienced with writing.
As for the paper it didn't really change my opinion at all. I already knew all of this and the paper wasn't really informative it wasn't persuasive, it was just the author rambling on about his opinion. The only thing the article really pointed out to me was the following quote.
"Factors like recommendations from teachers and guidance counselors and extracurricular activities trail far behind."
I think that teacher recommendations and extracurricular activities have a lot to do with college applications. It shows if a student is hard-working. Some people say that you could do all this after-school stuff but not do anything and stand there and do nothing- well the leader of that activity would probably kick you out if you didn't do anything. And as for a teacher recommendation- how do you cheat that?

I love this book so much. I've read this book twice already. I read one chapter towards the end of the book for the third time today. I always loved this chapter. For one you found out a lot of secrets about the characters in this chapter. Secrets that keep you lying awake at night. You can tell a book is good when it keeps you up at night. In this chapter, at least the first time you read it, you think that the girl, Tess, sacrifices herself. This is why the chapter is called Boadicea. She was a queen who would rather take poison than be captured by the Romans. That's kinda what Tess did. Her power was needed by the evil dude so she stuck a knife right through her heart. That takes courage. Except she shape-shifted right before she did it. So she didn't actually suffer any pain. But when she is still faking dead the I-hate-the-world-but-I'm-still-charming guy, Will, sees her he flips out. He actually likes her. And she likes him. There's another guy Jem too that likes her. My brain is Team Jem but my heart is Team Will. Jem is the more logical option, but there's something about Will... I don't know.

This is the second time I've read this book. But it's been 3 years so... I hardly remember it. It is so much better than the movies. In the first little part Its Bella and Charlie. I like Charlie better in the movies. I guess I don't like him because he is team Jacob. I mean really. Bella is like totally grounded from seeing Edward. But he un-grounds her, but under the condition that she visits Jacob. So I still don't like him. I also really don't like Bella all that much. What does Edward see in her? I mean, she's so selfish! She thinks "Oh I'm hurting Jake by not loving him" Who cares if she hurts Jake!!! He's not her boyfriend is he? No! Edward is her boyfriend but sadly she hurts him too by obsessing over Jacob so much! Good Lord! I can get a bit worked up about these kinda things. It just makes me mad. Did I mention that Eclipse is my second to least favorite book in the series. It has the second to MOST amount of Jacob in it so... yeah.

Pinch. Edward Pinch. How I despise him. He came up with a decent plan. After he killed Verminion(one of the four Lords of the Nether) he came up with a plan to bring the Guardian( a being whose aura cripples monsters, but he will die if touched by a human)to the monsters' lair and cripple them. They will kill them while they are defenseless. But while they are there there is one fatal mistake,
SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT
the Director doesn't want Pinch's plan to succeed. Hes jealous of his power. So the Director goes and hugs the Guardian until he dies, and the monsters kill many people. Then the Director blames it on Pinch and his friends.
To me, the point of this part of the book is to show a message; man is corrupt. How good could triumph in the end, but somebody who is jealous, somebody who wants the glory for themselves, makes evil win.
I'm guessing things are going to go horribly wrong. I think that humankind might be wiped out because of this stupid jealous man.

I like this book. Its my writing style. Katniss just seems confused and tortured. And she has reason for it. I mean, does she love Peeta? That's what I don't get. Or does she love Gale? Or does she not love either? Or both? Or is it like an Edward/Jacob thing? Cause if it is I am totally Team Peeta. Gale just kind of annoys me. Even though Peeta makes things up about stuff, and is traitorous I still like him more. Gale kinda pushes things on Katniss, while Peeta has charm. And even though Gale and Katniss have always been friends, I think Katniss and Peeta have been through a lot more together. Now, let's talk about Haymitch. Good lord, I can not stand him. He's so dumb.I hate most of the characters in this book. Why can't everyone go away, and let Katniss fall in love naturally, and with the guy she really loves. And then sometimes Katniss annoys me. She's a bit pessimistic. And I understand why, but still sometimes I just wanna tell her to shut up and live with it. But, in all of this, do you know what character that never bothers me? Peeta. I love Peeta. And the thing is I'm not 100 percent sure why I like him so much. I guess its one of those things where you cant really put your finger on it.

Hey:)
Okay this is the third post I've made. I'm so bad with computery stuff that I accidently deleted my other posts but they are still there thers just no text in the body. So hey. This is my first blog, and all though I made it for school I'll probably use it for other reasons too. like maybe one day I'll be ticked off at something and vent about it on here. Who knows, the possibilities are endless. So welcome all to... Amber's blog.
